NIFTY moves up, Nifty IT stocks in focus

The key equity barometers traded with solid gains in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 24245-24137. Nifty IT, Nifty Metal and Nifty FMCG shares advanced. At 10:45 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, climbed 841.21 points or 1.10% to 77,607.13. The Nifty 50 index gained 245 points or 1.02% to 24,230.35. The broader market performed worse than frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index added 0.57% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index advanced 0.94%. The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 2984 shares rose and 1542 shares retreated. A total of 271 shares were unchanged. Nifty IT index recorded robust gains of 3% to 31331. The index has posted strong gains of 12.50% in last one month and fell 14% over last one year. Infosys, moving higher 5.24%, led the gainers followed by TCS, gaining 2.53% and LTM, inching higher 2.50%, respectively. All 10 constituents are advancing today. Nifty Metal index rallied 2.02% to 12651. The index has inched lower by 1.15% in last one month and surged 33.10% over last one year. S A I L, up 4.31%, led the gainers followed by Jindal Steel, edging up 4.16% and Lloyds Metals, adding 3.46%, respectively. Out of 15 index constituents, 14 are reporting gains today. Nifty FMCG index rose 1.52% to 49622. The index has edged lower 0.50% in last one month and slipped 10.69% over last one year. Hind. Unilever, up 3.81%, led the gainers followed by Varun Beverages, gaining 3.01% and Radico Khaitan, gaining 2.31%, respectively. Out of 15 index constituents, 13 are reporting gains today. All 14 sectoral indices on NSE are trading in the green today. Nifty IT index has soared 12.50% in last one month and has recorded steep losses of 14% over last year. Nifty Auto index has posted strong gains of 5.40% in last one month and has rallied 17.52% over last one year. From NIFTY50 index, Suzlon Energy, Sagility AND Vodafone Idea are leading in terms of volumes today, clocking turnover of 5499.94 lakh shares, 3552.34 lakh shares and 897.99 lakh shares respectively. Asian markets were marginally higher on Wednesday. China’s Shanghai composite is up 0.31%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is substantially higher by 1.43%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is sharply lower by 1.70%. NIFTY50 Aug-26 futures are in discount of 64.65 points today.
